General Manoj Pande, India’s Chief of Army Staff, called on his Bangladesh counterpart General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed at the Army Headquarters in Dhaka on Monday.
At the beginning of the meeting, General Manoj Pande said this is his first foreign visit to Bangladesh after assuming office as Indian Army Chief by which his respect towards Bangladesh and basis of historic and professional relations existing between the armed forces of the two countries have been exposed in a better way.
The two army chiefs discussed existing good relations of the two armed forces and other issues of cooperation for future advancement.
Later, a special briefing was arranged for the Indian delegation at the Army Headquarters.
The Indian Army Chief praised the current leadership of the Bangladesh Army and overall standard after being informed about its war preparation, improved training system, role in establishing world peace and overall administrative system.

Before arrival at the Army Headquarters, General Manoj Pande paid respect to the valiant freedom fighters of the Liberation War of Bangladesh by laying a wreath at Shikha Anirban at Dhaka Cantonment.

Later, an smart contingent of Bangladesh Army accorded a guard of honour to the Indian Army Chief at Senakunja. He also planted a sapling there.

General Manoj Pande paid a courtesy call on Security Affairs Advisor to the Prime Minister Maj Gen (retd) Tariq Ahmed Siddique, and service Chiefs of Bangladesh Navy, Air Force.
The Indian Army Chief is scheduled to pay courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina tomorrow.
General Manoj Pande arrived in Dhaka on Monday morning on a four-day visit at the invitation of General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed, Chief of Army Staff of Bangladesh Army.
